Heavy Granite Top Stability Design
If you only focus on the shape of the tabletop and the appearance of the base, granite is relatively heavy. A 3-centimeter-thick top plate weighs about 80 kilograms per square meter. A thin base, eccentric support, or too small contact area can cause the stone to wobble or even break when people lean against the edge.
GLM first calculates the weight and center of gravity of the stones. If the base is too narrow, we will glue a sturdy plywood or steel sub-top plate underneath to reduce stress and secure the screws. For slender bases, we add steel counterweights inside to keep the table stable on the ground.
Granite Coffee Table Material & Finish Rules
“Indoor and outdoor” are not the same. Granite exhibits completely different properties in cold, humid, or sunny places.
Outdoors, water can seep into the pores of the stone and cause it to crack when it freezes. We choose low-absorption granite with a water absorption rate of less than 0.2% and seal it with a penetrating agent. Dark polished surfaces absorb heat in sunlight and show water stains, so leather or a buffed finish is recommended. For the base material, to avoid iron rusting outdoors, we recommend using 304 or 316 stainless steel, or aluminum with an outdoor powder coating, together with outdoor-grade adhesives that remain stable under UV exposure.

This shortens sample delivery times and ensures color matching between batches, guaranteeing consistency in your mass production.
Our bases can be laid flat inside containers, allowing for an estimated 30% more tables to be loaded per shipment, reducing shipping costs. Packaging boxes can be mixed with your required SKUs and are pre-labeled with your retail barcodes and shipping markings for easy direct warehousing.
The desktops are sealed and treated to prevent contamination before leaving the factory, effectively reducing the seepage of coffee and wine. We also package and label the boxes according to the specific construction area, placing items that need to be placed in the appropriate area, improving the handling efficiency of on-site construction personnel.

Yes. Granite is harder than wood or marble; it can withstand hot cups, key scratches, and everyday wear and tear, making it suitable for both indoor living rooms and outdoor patios.
A 30mm thick countertop can easily weigh 50-100 kg, and if the base is too small, it may wobble or tip over. Unsealed granite may absorb wine or oil stains, and its rough edges will feel cold and sharp to the touch.
20 mm (3/4 inch) is suitable for small tables or lightweight designs. 30 mm (1-1/4 inch) is our recommended standard, which creates a sturdy, premium look without the need for additional frame support.
Do not screw directly onto the stone. Use epoxy resin to glue a sturdy plywood or steel plate as the base for the granite countertop, and then use bolts to fix the base to the base.
The height should be between 35 and 45 centimeters, ideally level with or slightly lower than the sofa cushion. In terms of length, the target is 1/2 to 2/3 of the sofa’s length.
Wipe with a soft cloth damp with warm water; avoid using vinegar or harsh chemical cleaners. If spilled liquids such as wine or coffee are spilled, wipe them dry immediately. It is recommended to apply a stone sealant once a year to prevent grease from seeping into the stone’s pores.
