TRAVERTINE SINK PERFORMANCE

Why Your Projects Need GLMStone Travertine Sinks

Travertine sinks need more than accurate shaping. We control exposed voids, bowl drainage, wet-area surface treatment and export protection around the natural porosity of the stone, helping you reduce common issues with filling, standing water, staining and transport damage.

Shape-Fitted Export Protection

Custom foam lining and wooden or metal crates protect vulnerable stone edges.

Penetrating Stain Protection

Impregnating sealer improves resistance to moisture and everyday staining.

2° CNC Drainage Slope

A controlled bowl fall guides water toward the drain outlet.

Two-Stage Void Filling

Voids exposed after CNC carving are refilled, cured and honed again.

Two-Stage Filling for Cleaner, More Stable Travertine Surfaces

After rough CNC carving, new pores and hidden voids often appear inside the bowl. We clean these areas with compressed air, refill them with color-matched two-component stone epoxy, allow full curing, then re-hone the surface and check again for open pinholes. For your sink, this second filling step is completed after shaping—not only before machining—so the finished bowl has fewer loose patches, visible pits and uneven filler marks.

Reinforced Openings and Protected Weak Areas Before Shipment

Drain holes, faucet openings, thin rims and narrow sections receive extra attention before your sink is packed. Where needed, we cut an underside kerf and embed a fiberglass reinforcing rod with epoxy, a common stone-fabrication method for vulnerable sections. Drain and faucet holes are also finished in the factory with eased edges rather than left for site drilling. The completed basin is then held in custom-fit foam lining with a wooden or metal export crate, reducing movement and edge impact during transport.

FACTORY & SOURCING ADVANTAGE

Direct Travertine Sourcing with 5-Axis CNC Fabrication

GLMStone works with selected travertine quarry partners, giving you more options in color range, vein direction, void density and block size before production. This makes it easier to choose suitable material for custom sizes, large-format basins and repeated project orders. In our factory, 5-axis CNC machining handles deep bowls, curved profiles, drain openings and other non-standard details, keeping more of your travertine sink production under direct control from raw block to finished piece.

BUYER-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS

Travertine Sink Solutions for Different Buyers

Sink size, stone condition and packing details are not checked the same way for every order.

Custom Cabinetry & Bath Showrooms

Cabinet Opening First
Send the vanity or countertop drawing before we release the sink for CNC work. We first match the outside size and bowl height with the cabinet opening. Drain position and support clearance are checked separately.Faucet and drain holes can be finished in the factory with diamond tooling and eased edges. If your project has tighter tolerance requirements, critical dimensions can be controlled to ±0.5 mm.

Distributors & Bathroom Brands

Repeat SKU Record
Approved SKU drawings are kept as the reference for later batches. Outside size, drain specification, stone range and finish requirement do not need to be rebuilt from zero each time.Narrow rims or weaker sections may need fiberglass rodding. Packing is then arranged according to the model: fitted foam inside, followed by a wooden or metal export crate. Mixed orders can use separate SKU labels for receiving and redistribution.

General Contractors & Developers

Room / Unit Marking Before Packing
Each basin can be linked to the room or unit number on your project list. This is useful when one shipment contains several sizes or models.Finished pieces are measured before packing. Drain position and bowl level are checked at the same time, together with visible filling areas. Inspection photos are kept by batch. Any piece outside the agreed tolerance is separated before shipment.

Interior Designers & A&D

Actual Slab Review
Travertine varies by slab, especially in filling, color and open pores. You can review the actual stone photos and finish sample before cutting.Once the stone is selected, the CAD file becomes the working reference. Bowl shape, wall thickness, edge radius and mounting detail are checked from the drawing. Curved profiles are reviewed separately before CNC machining, and the drain position is fixed in the shop drawing rather than adjusted later on site.

CUSTOMIZATION & ENGINEERING

Choose the Right Travertine Sink for Your Project

Select the stone color, basin size, installation type and surface finish before production. These details can be adjusted around your bathroom layout, countertop height and overall design, while non-standard dimensions and profiles can be developed from approved drawings.

Finish the Inside and Outside Differently

Is Travertine a Good Material for a Bathroom Sink?

Travertine works well for vessel, pedestal and vanity sinks when you want natural color and visible stone texture. Because the material contains natural pores, the bowl interior should normally be filled and finished for wet use. You should also expect some variation in color, veining and pore density between pieces.

Do the Natural Holes in a Travertine Sink Need to Be Filled?

Yes, inside the bowl. After rough CNC carving, newly exposed pores can be cleaned and refilled with color-matched two-component stone epoxy, then cured and re-honed. Exterior areas can remain more natural or textured if your design requires it. The goal is to keep the water-contact surface smoother and easier to maintain.

Does Sealing Make a Travertine Sink Acid-Proof?

No. A penetrating sealer improves resistance to moisture and staining, but it cannot stop acid etching. Vinegar, lemon juice and acidic bathroom cleaners can still dull the surface. For daily care, use a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild soap, rinse the bowl.

What Finish Works Best Inside a Travertine Sink?

A filled and honed finish is usually the practical choice for the bowl interior because it closes most exposed pores and gives you a smoother surface for daily cleaning. The exterior can be different. Honed, natural, fluted or chiseled finishes can be used depending on the design.

What Should I Confirm Before Ordering a Custom Travertine Sink?

Confirm the overall size, bowl depth, rim width, wall thickness, drain position, drain-hole diameter and installation type before production. If your sink needs faucet or overflow holes, include those in the drawing as well. For vessel or pedestal models, countertop height, drain clearance and fixing details should also be checked.

What Affects the Price of a Custom Travertine Sink?

Your price mainly depends on the travertine type, basin size, carving depth, wall thickness, finish, void-filling work and order quantity. Solid pedestal sinks normally use more block material and CNC time than small vessel basins.
